DaycareLicense Check

How we verify

Daycare License Check is compiled from public records, not from who paid to be listed.

Sources

We load each state's child care open data and keep programs that are currently licensed or registered: New York programs with License or Registration status and an expiry date that has not passed (programs shown as suspended or pending revocation are not listed here); Pennsylvania centers, group homes and family homes; Massachusetts licensed programs whose status is Current or Renewal in progress; Washington programs that are active and licensed (payment-only and certified programs are not included). Head Start, public school and private school programs in the Massachusetts file are not included.

These files are rosters. They do not contain inspection results or complaints, so we show none and send you to each state's lookup. For home-based programs we omit the street address and phone number. Pennsylvania's Keystone STARS level is the state's own quality-improvement designation, shown as the state publishes it.

A listing means the program appears in the state file with that status on the day we checked. It can lag behind the state's live record. We do not rate, rank or recommend programs.

What a badge means

Active state license: the program is listed as currently licensed or registered (New York: License or Registration status with an unexpired date; Pennsylvania: listed in the DHS provider file; Massachusetts: licensed, current or renewal in progress; Washington: active and licensed) in the state's open data on the day we checked. We only publish positive matches. A listing without a badge is not an accusation — most gaps are name variations between registries.

Freshness

Data was last refreshed on 2026-10-02. The states update their open data regularly; we re-pull weekly.
